Altos de Estepona is a residential district on the hillside immediately behind and above Estepona’s historic old town (casco antiguo). It is not a single gated development with one developer or brand \u2014 it is a general barrio of Estepona municipality, built up in phases over recent decades as streets climb the slope away from the coast. Property here ranges from villas and townhouses to mid-rise apartment blocks, laid out along the hill rather than around a shared resort amenity.<\/p>\n
What sets the area apart is its position: because it sits directly above the old town rather than out on the coastal strip, homes on higher ground look out over the rooftops of Estepona toward the Mediterranean, the town’s marina, and \u2014 on a clear day \u2014 the coastline of Morocco and Gibraltar in the distance. The trade-off is the slope itself: streets are steep, so a car (or at least a willingness to walk uphill on the way back) matters more here than in flatter parts of town.<\/p>\n
Estepona’s old town, with its shops, restaurants, and beachfront promenade, is downhill and within walking distance of the lower part of the district, which is a practical difference from developments further out along the coast or inland that depend entirely on a car for daily errands.<\/p>\n
