De 16e-eeuwse Torre del Velerin wachttoren staat nog steeds bij de riviermonding en waakt over dezelfde kustlijn die nu gated-communities met directe strandtoegang en zeezicht naar Gibraltar herbergt. Het is een rustiger, meer residentieel deel van de New Golden Mile, gelegen tussen twee beken die vanuit de Sierra Bermeja stromen.<\/p>\n<h2>Een rustige woonwijk tussen rivier, toren en zee<\/h2>\n<p>Het gebied heeft twee kanten. De oorspronkelijke barriada ligt aan de bergkant van de kustweg, terwijl de zeezijde is bestemd voor moderne ontwikkelingen met lagere dichtheid, gated beachfront complexen zoals Bahia del Velerin en nieuwere projecten zoals Velaya, vele met directe strandzijde.
