Skiing in the morning and being back for dinner by the sea is one of the underrated perks of living on this coast. Here is what you need to know for this season.
Early-bird ski passes 2026/27
The early-bird campaign runs from 15 September to 15 October 2026, online at sierranevada.es.
| Season pass | Early-bird (until 15 Oct) | Standard price |
|---|---|---|
| Adult (16 to 64) | €1,120 | €1,400 |
| Senior (65 to 69) | €896 | €1,120 |
| Junior (6 to 15) | €840 | €1,050 |
The 20% discount also applies to:
- 10, 15 and 20-day passes, for people who ski several days a winter but not every weekend.
- The family season pass.
- The Monday to Friday season pass.
Day pass prices for 2026/27 have not been published yet.

What else you get
- Free night skiing days.
- Discounts on ski and snowboard rental and on ski lockers.
- Activities for non-skiers.
- Use of the lifts next summer.
- Unused days roll over: days left on a 10, 15 or 20-day pass can be carried into 2027/28 if you buy a new pass of the same length or longer.
- Pay in instalments: season and multi-day passes can be financed 100% online over 4, 5 or 6 months, for purchases between €300 and €6,000.
Compared with last year: in 2025 the resort gave 30% off for the first 96 hours on multi-day passes, then 20% until 10 October. This year there is no 30% window, but the 20% runs five days longer and covers more pass types from day one.
What’s new for 2026/27
Cetursa, the company that runs the resort, is investing more than €17 million before the season:
- Nevasol, a new restaurant in the heart of the Borreguiles area, already finished.
- A new piste grooming machine and four snowmobiles.
- Changes to the landings of the big jumps in the Loma de Dílar snowpark, so the area can open with less snow (pending a final environmental permit).
- The Stadium, Laguna and Montebajo chairlifts are going through their compulsory 25-year overhaul. Stadium gets a new boarding carpet and a system to stop the lift freezing up in freezing rain.
When does the season open?
The official opening date for 2026/27 has not been announced. Sierra Nevada traditionally aims to open towards the end of November, and the exact date depends on snow and cold enough nights to make snow. We will update this post when the date is confirmed.
Getting there from the Costa del Sol
- By car: about 2.5 hours from Marbella and 3 hours from Estepona, via the A-7 to Málaga, then the A-45 or A-92 towards Granada and the A-395 up to the resort at Pradollano. The last stretch is a mountain road: check the road status and carry chains in winter.
- Tolls (2026 prices, car): the fastest route has up to three toll sections, all optional. From Marbella you pay the AP-7 at Calahonda (€5.70) and the AP-46 at Las Pedrizas towards Granada (€4.35 on weekdays, €6.60 at weekends): €10.05 each way on a weekday, €12.30 at weekends. From Estepona add the AP-7 at San Pedro (€3.85), so €13.90 or €16.15. Over Easter the AP-7 goes up to €9.25 at Calahonda and €6.25 at San Pedro. The AP-46 is free from midnight to 6am, handy for an early start, and the free A-7 and A-45 run alongside both toll roads if you would rather not pay. Prices change every January.
- Parking: there are paid car parks in Pradollano. Arrive early on weekends and holidays.
- By bus: regular buses run from Granada to the resort in the ski season. From the coast, the easiest option is to drive or take a bus to Granada first.
- Day trip or weekend? A day trip is very doable if you leave early. For two days or more, staying in Pradollano or in Granada (30 to 45 minutes away) is more relaxed, and you get the Alhambra thrown in.
Where to stay: the Marbella Club hotels on the slopes
If you know Marbella Club and Puente Romano on the Golden Mile, the two best-known hotels in Sierra Nevada will feel familiar, and that is no coincidence. El Lodge and Maribel belong to the same family, the Shamoons, and are run by the same team. We tell the family’s story, from David Shamoon buying Puente Romano in 1995 to his children Daniel and Jennica running both hotels today, in our history of the Golden Mile.

- El Lodge. The family’s group bought it in 2012. It then closed for almost two years and reopened in December 2015.
- Maribel. It opened for the 2022/23 season, a few metres from El Lodge at 2,250 metres, with direct access to the Maribel and Águila runs. It has 29 rooms and suites, a Nordic-style spa and a ski-in, ski-out terrace.
- A third hotel. In early 2024 the family bought a third hotel at the resort, the 80-room GHM Monachil, and plans a major investment to raise it to five stars. For now it still trades as GHM Monachil.
Both El Lodge and Maribel are members of Small Luxury Hotels of the World. Neither has published 2026/27 prices or opening dates yet.
Is it worth it if you live here?
I will be honest with the numbers. If you ski 8 to 10 days a season, a 10-day pass bought now is usually the smart choice. If you are up every weekend from December to April, the season pass at €1,120 pays for itself quickly. And if you only go once or twice, wait for day passes.
What I like most is the combination. Very few places in Europe let you ski in the morning and walk on the beach in the afternoon. It is one of the things we mention when people ask us why live on the Costa del Sol, and it is a nice extra for anyone choosing between areas. The eastern side of the coast is closest to Granada, so if the mountains matter to you, Find My Area can help you weigh up Marbella, Estepona and the rest.
