What is Flamingos?
Los Flamingos is a gated golf resort in the Benahavís municipality, set inland from the New Golden Mile between Puerto Banús and Estepona, roughly 3 km from the coast. It is built around the Villa Padierna Palace hotel, now operated under the Anantara brand, and sits in a valley of golf courses backed by hills, with views down toward the sea. The estate runs 24-hour security.
The resort is organized around three 18-hole courses making up the Villa Padierna Golf Club: Flamingos Golf (opened 2001, par 71, designed by Antonio Garcia Garrido), Alferini Golf (opened 2007, par 73, the more demanding of the three) and Tramores Golf (opened 2009, par 63, an executive course with its own academy). Housing is split between nine apartment complexes and a mix of traditional Mediterranean-style and contemporary villas, several built directly onto the fairways.
Apartments run from roughly 270,000 euros for smaller units up to around 1.4 million euros for larger ones. Traditional villas start from about 2 million euros, while modern luxury villas range from 2 million to 10 million euros or more, with a handful of the largest new-build properties priced above 20 million euros. Buyers are largely international, drawn to the golf, the gated security and the hotel amenities, which residents can use alongside hotel guests.

International buyers and part-time residents drawn to golf and gated privacy: retirees and second-home owners who play the three courses regularly, plus a smaller group of full-time residents who treat the Villa Padierna hotel's restaurants, spa and Racquet Club as an extension of home. Families with young children are less common here than in Nueva Andalucia or Sotogrande - Los Flamingos reads more as a golf-and-hotel community than a family neighbourhood.
