What is Huerta Nueva?
Huerta Nueva is a well-established residential neighbourhood on the northern edge of Estepona town, sitting between the main road and the hillside above. It offers the convenience of being within walking distance of Estepona's shops, schools and medical facilities while maintaining a quieter, more local character than the beachfront areas.
The housing stock is a mix of Spanish-style apartments, townhouses and some detached villas. Streets are leafy, the pace is relaxed and daily life revolves around local bakeries, cafés and the nearby Mercadona. It is one of the most practical areas in Estepona for families who want to live in town without paying beachfront prices.
Huerta Nueva in 2026
Huerta Nueva changes with the town around it. Estepona cleared its debt and cut property tax for 2026, which our post on the Estepona tax cuts explains, and it broke ground in July on a velodrome, football and rugby complex beside the Monterroso stream in the north west of town, in our velodrome post, with a plan to turn the stream into a public green corridor linking the fairground and sports park with the centre. Hospiten Estepona opened a specialist eye centre in the summer. The beach at the bottom of the hill is La Rada, 2.6 km long with the promenade, lifeguards from 15 June to 15 September and the calmest water in town, all compared in our Estepona beaches guide. We do not tag listings to Huerta Nueva as a separate district, so the homes here sit with the rest of the town on our Estepona property page, and the projects around the centre on our Estepona new developments page. Neighbours with their own guides are the old town below, Los Llanos to the east, Altos de Estepona up the hill and the port. The town as a whole is in our Estepona guide.
