I train most days, so this is the list I would have wanted when I started looking.

How gyms work here if you are new

Contracts

The chains (Basic-Fit, Synergym, VivaGym, Fitness Park) sell monthly plans with no long contract, and run no-minimum-stay offers several times a year. Basic-Fit has one until 5 November 2026. Boutique and PT studios sell packs of sessions or monthly coaching plans. Sports clubs sell annual or monthly membership with a joining fee.

Trials and day passes

Almost every gym on this list offers a free trial session, and most sell day passes. Los Reales charges €15 for a day, €25 with brunch. Ask before you sign anything.

Godziny

The chains open from 06:00 or 07:00 to 22:30 or 23:00 on weekdays and shorter at weekends. Some Synergym and Basic-Fit clubs are 24 hours. CrossFit boxes and PT studios run on class timetables, so check the app before you turn up. Hours below are Google’s listed Monday, Saturday and Sunday hours as of 8 October 2026.

Language

Every gym here has English speaking staff. The chains run their apps in English and Spanish.

• You want a club, not a gym: THE I/O in San Pedro, Real Club Padel Marbella in Nueva Andalucía, Puente Romano on the Golden Mile, Manolo Santana above Marbella, Los Reales in Estepona. Gym, courts, pool or spa and somewhere to eat, in one membership.
• You just want to train, cheaply: Basic-Fit, Synergym, VivaGym, Fitness Park.
• You want someone to plan it: Elements, Active Training Studio, Iron Bodyfit, F45 and Training Zone, OPR Fitness. Expect €75 to €250 a month.
• You like classes and a group: the CrossFit boxes (Marbella, Puerto Banús, Estepona, NXS Cancelada, Bankai Manilva) or Brooklyn Fitboxing.

The clubs: where you join for more than a gym

Ask anyone who has lived here a few years where they train and you will hear the same five names. None of them is a gym in the Basic-Fit sense. They are clubs: a training floor plus courts, a pool or a spa, a restaurant, and the people you end up knowing. Four of them are listed here, Los Reales is in the Estepona section below. Google ratings are shown but did not decide the list; people join these whatever the score says.

A members’ health club rather than a gym, in the centre of San Pedro. Indoor and outdoor training floors, classes in six formats (strength, sculpt, cardio, mind and body, rhythm and a heated studio), a red light therapy room and VIP saunas with cold buckets for contrast therapy. There is no price list and no walk-in signup, you apply. It carries the lowest Google score of the clubs on this list, so take a day pass before you commit. It is also where a large part of San Pedro, Guadalmina and the New Golden Mile trains, which is the reason to go.

Ten thousand square metres in Nueva Andalucía, open since 2008. Indoor and outdoor gym with cardio, free weights and a HYROX training club, six padel courts with an academy, boxing, Muay Thai, BJJ and MMA in open-air rings and cages, Pilates reformer, a spa with sauna, jacuzzi and hot and cold plunge pools, a kids club, a restaurant and a dog house for members’ dogs. The spa and the classes are included in the €80 membership, padel courts are booked separately with a member discount. For the price of a mid-range gym you get a whole club. The gym is the main event here, padel is the extra.

The tennis club of the Puente Romano hotel, where Becker, McEnroe, Djokovic and Murray have played and where the Reserve Cup padel circuit stops. The gym runs Technogym Artis equipment with instructors and the MyWellness app, there is a Pilates studio, physiotherapy, spinning and yoga on demand, and a Turkish bath after. Membership is by application through a form on the website. This is where the Golden Mile plays. The gym is good, the courts are the reason to join.

Founded around Spain’s 1966 Wimbledon champion, on the Istán road two kilometres above Marbella. A Technogym gym with cardio, free weights and a functional zone, a Finnish sauna and an outdoor pool included in the gym plan, yoga, Pilates, functional and HIIT classes at no extra cost, tennis and padel courts on Playtomic, a ballet academy for children and a gastrobar. On the annual plan the gym works out at €33.25 a month, which makes it the cheapest way into a club with a pool on this coast. Expect a family and club atmosphere, not a boutique one.
