Vad ar Sierra Blanca?

Sierra Blanca sits on the mountainside above Marbella's Golden Mile, rising toward La Concha peak. It is not one development but a collection of separate gated estates and urbanisations built up the hillside from the 1970s onward, mixing large detached villas with a smaller number of low-rise apartment complexes such as Condado de Sierra Blanca, Balcones de Sierra Blanca, Meisho Hills and Lagos de Sierra Blanca. Most of the villa plots are held within gated, guarded communities, which is the main reason the area has kept its reputation for privacy over four decades.

The altitude, up to around 300 metres in the upper part of the area, is what sets Sierra Blanca apart from the flatter Golden Mile below: properties higher up the slope get open sea views toward the coast and Gibraltar on a clear day. The area has long attracted an international, affluent crowd, a mix of permanent residents and families who use their homes seasonally, drawn by the combination of quiet, tree-lined streets and a five-to-ten-minute drive down to the beach, Puerto Banús or central Marbella.

Because it built out gradually rather than as a single masterplan, Sierra Blanca's housing stock spans decades, from older 1980s and 1990s villas (many since renovated or rebuilt on their original plots) to newer contemporary builds. There is no single flagship project defining the area today; turnover tends to be renovation and reconstruction of existing villas rather than large new developments, which keeps supply limited and demand steady.
