Los Monteros A long-established beachfront neighbourhood in east Marbella, built around the Don Carlos Resort and the newly reopened Kimpton Los Monteros hotel

What is Los Monteros?

Los Monteros sits on the beachfront in east Marbella, a few kilometres from the town centre toward San Pedro de Alcántara direction and just past Marbella's eastern edge. It is not a single gated estate but a long-established residential area made up of several separate urbanisations, villas and apartment complexes, some gated and some not, developed from the 1970s onward around the original Hotel Los Monteros.

The area's landmark is the hotel itself. Hotel Los Monteros closed for renovation and reopened in February 2025 as the Kimpton Los Monteros Marbella, part of IHG's Kimpton brand, after a EUR14 million refurbishment. It carries Spain's Gran Lujo (5-star) classification, with 195 rooms and 60 suites. Next to it, the Don Carlos Resort occupies a roughly 40-acre pine estate with its own 5-star hotel, spa and tennis facilities, giving the immediate surroundings a resort-like feel even though the wider area is ordinary residential streets.

Los Monteros is known for being quiet and established, popular with long-term expat residents rather than short-stay buyers, with direct walking access to the beach and the seafront promenade. Rio Real Golf is close by, on the inland side of the area, and the N-340/A-7 gives quick access into Marbella town and toward Elviria and the eastern Costa del Sol.
