El Herrojo, with El Herrojo Alto above it, is an urbanisation of detached villas on the ridge between the La Quinta golf valley and Los Arqueros, in the southern tip of Benahavís above San Pedro de Alcántara. The Westin La Quinta hotel and the first tee at La Quinta are a few hundred metres down the hill; the coast at San Pedro is about 4 km away. Almost every house here was built or rebuilt in the last ten years, which is why the estate reads as contemporary rather than Andalusian: flat roofs, glass and long views south over the valley to the sea.
Our stock here is villas with five or more bedrooms, mostly new or recently completed, and our listings run from about 5 million to 10.5 million euros, with the largest plots at the top of the hill.
El Herrojo in 2026
At the time of writing (October 2026) we have four villas tagged to El Herrojo, five to eight bedrooms, from about 5.2 million to 10.5 million euros, on our Benahavís property page. There is no new development inside the urbanisation, because every house is built on its own plot; the nearest is Tiara at La Quinta Golf below, from about 1.55 million, with the Benahavís hill projects on our Benahavís new developments page. Golf is the first tee at La Quinta a few hundred metres down the hill, 27 holes by Manuel Piñero at about 95 to 120 euros a round, and Los Arqueros across the valley, 80 to 110 euros, both in our golf courses guide. Next to La Quinta, the El Lago Club at Real de la Quinta opened in July 2026 with its lake, beach and six hole course, and the Angsana hotel there is under construction, in our Real de la Quinta post. Padel has become a near requirement for the Dutch, Belgian and German buyers who make up much of El Herrojo, in our padel post. Where is El Herrojo?
Who lives in El Herrojo?
Buyers are mostly British, Dutch, Belgian, German and Scandinavian families and couples who want a new house with a view, golf on the doorstep and San Pedro's schools ten minutes away, without paying Golden Mile prices. A good share live here year round; the rest use it for long stays rather than two week holidays.

The upper section of the estate, with the highest plots and the widest views over the valley to the sea. The larger new villas, and the highest prices, are mostly there.

How far is the beach from El Herrojo?
About 4 km. San Pedro's beach and promenade are 8 minutes by car; Puerto Banús is 10.
El Herrojo or La Quinta?
They share the hill and the golf. La Quinta is larger, has apartments and townhouses as well as villas and a wider price range; El Herrojo is villas only, newer on average and quieter. If you want a contemporary house and do not need the lowest entry price, El Herrojo is the shorter list.
What does a villa in El Herrojo cost in 2026?
In our stock, from about 5.2 million euros for a five bedroom house to about 10.5 million for a six bedroom one, with four villas listed at the time of writing. Almost everything here was built or rebuilt in the last ten years, so you are paying for a finished contemporary house, not a plot.
Is there new build in El Herrojo?
Not as a development. El Herrojo is detached villas on individual plots, and the newest houses are one off builds sold by their owners or the builder. For a project with shared facilities the nearest is Tiara at La Quinta Golf, from about 1.55 million euros.
How far is El Herrojo from the beach?
About 4 kilometres, eight minutes by car, to the San Pedro de Alcántara beaches, and ten to Puerto Banús. The coast path from San Pedro to Banús was finished in 2026, so once you are down the hill you can walk the seafront.
