El Velerín NEW GOLDEN MILE BEACHFRONT LUXURY

What is El Velerín?

El Velerín sits on the New Golden Mile, the prestigious coastal strip running east from Estepona toward San Pedro de Alcántara. This is prime beachfront territory, with luxury apartment complexes, gated villa communities and five-star hotels lining the shore. The Kempinski Hotel Bahía is the area's landmark, setting the tone for the upscale lifestyle.

The beach is wide and sandy, with several high-end chiringuitos and beach clubs. Behind the coastal strip, newer developments are climbing the gentle slopes, offering sea views and contemporary architecture. The area combines resort-style living with genuine year-round community.

El Velerín in 2026

What sells here is the front line, and At the time of writing (October 2026) we have five homes tagged to it: four at Bahía del Velerín, three bedroom apartments and a penthouse between about 1.9 and 2.7 million euros, and a five bedroom villa in El Velerín at about 4.5 million, all on our Estepona property page. There is no new development inside El Velerín; the New Golden Mile projects, from Adagio in Cancelada at about 442,000 to Ocean 11 at Bel Air from about 2.55 million, are on our Estepona new developments page. The beach has two parts: Del Castor, 880 metres between the Castor and Velerín rivers with the mountains behind, and El Velerín itself, calm water with a chiringuito and sunbeds, reached on foot only, neither with a lifeguard, in our Estepona beaches guide. The Senda Litoral runs past the door towards Guadalmansa and Costalita, in our coastal path post, and the sunset terraces of this stretch, Tikitano and Salduna among them, are in our sunset terraces post. The town cut property tax again for 2026 after clearing its debt, in our post on the tax cuts. The neighbours have their own guides: El Padrón up the valley, Punta Plata and the port towards town, Cancelada and Guadalmansa east along the coast, and the town in our Estepona guide.

No. Neither Del Castor nor El Velerín has a lifeguard; Estepona staffs five beaches in summer and the nearest with a service is El Padrón, next door to the west. El Velerín has calm water, showers, sunbeds and a chiringuito, and is reached on foot from the urbanisation.

Can you walk along the coast from El Velerín?
