Guadalobón Beachfront strip where the Guadalobón reaches the sea, west of Estepona town

What is Guadalobón?

Guadalobón is the coastal stretch where the Arroyo Guadalobón meets the Mediterranean, about 4 km west of Estepona's old town along the N-340/AP-7 coast road. The name covers the beach itself (Playa de Guadalobón) and the residential cluster above it, known locally as Urbanización Altos de Guadalobón, within the wider hamlet of Saladavieja. It sits directly next to Costa Natura, Spain's first official naturist resort, which opened here in 1979 and remains the area's main landmark.

The housing is low-rise: apartment blocks and a scattering of villas built in phases from the 1980s onward along the coast road, with no high-rise development. The beach is a working local beach rather than a resort strip — quieter than Estepona's town beaches, with direct access from the A-7, popular with residents for swimming and walking rather than as a tourist draw.

Being on the coast road puts Guadalobón within easy reach of both directions: Estepona's old town and port are about 4 km east, and San Pedro de Alcántara and Marbella are reachable along the same AP-7 corridor to the northeast. It suits owners who want to be outside the town centre but still car-dependent for shops, schools and everyday errands, since there is no rail link and the nearest supermarkets are a short drive away.

Guadalobón in 2026

Guadalobón is one of the seventeen beaches in our Estepona beach guide, which covers the lifeguard dates and the neighbourhood behind each one, and the Senda Litoral links it on foot to the port and the old town 4 km east. Property here comes up rarely; the one project we currently offer on this stretch is Biubay, five beachfront villas, on our Estepona new developments page, and resales, when we have them, on our Estepona property page. The neighbours, Seghers towards the port and La Gaspara and Punta Plata to the west, have their own guides, and Estepona's council cut IBI and bin fees in 2026.

Who lives in Guadalobón?

A mix of long-term residents and retirees in the apartment blocks above the beach, plus owners connected to Costa Natura's holiday-let apartments next door. It is not a golf or new-build hotspot like the areas further inland (Valle Romano, Estepona Golf) — the draw here is direct beach access on the coast road rather than proximity to any golf course.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Guadalobón actually on the beach?

Yes. Guadalobón refers to the coastal strip at the mouth of the Arroyo Guadalobón, including Playa de Guadalobón itself and the Urbanización Altos de Guadalobón cluster above it - it is not an inland area.

Can I walk to Valle Romano Golf or Estepona Golf from Guadalobón?

No. Both courses are several kilometres inland/northeast of the coast road - a short drive, but not walking distance from any property in Guadalobón.

What is Costa Natura?

Costa Natura, right next to Guadalobón, is Spain's first officially recognised naturist resort, open since 1979, with its own pool, spa and beachfront restaurant.

How far is Guadalobón from Estepona's old town?

About 4 km east along the N-340/AP-7 coast road.

Do you need a car to live in Guadalobón?

Yes. There is no rail station nearby and the nearest supermarkets (Carrefour, Supercor) are at Puerto Estepona, roughly 2 km east.

Where is Guadalobón?

On the coast about 4 km west of Estepona old town, where the Arroyo Guadalobón reaches the sea, next to the Costa Natura naturist resort, within the hamlet of Saladavieja. Estepona port is 2 km east; Casares and Sabinillas are 10 minutes west; Gibraltar airport is about 45 minutes.

Is there property for sale in Guadalobón?

Occasionally. The housing is low rise apartments above the beach and a scattering of villas, and turnover is slow. At the time of writing the one project we offer on this stretch is Biubay, five beachfront villas; resales appear on our Estepona property page when we have them.

What is the beach at Guadalobón like?

A quieter, less built up beach than those in town, with the Senda Litoral running along it and the naturist section at Costa Natura next door. It is not a promenade beach: no chiringuito strip, fewer people, and the sea directly below the apartments.
