A Russian investment group bought the site at auction in 2014 and announced plans to restore and reopen it by 2016, but that work never started, and the course remains closed and overgrown. Villa plots on the estate are set among pine and cork-oak woodland, with architecture ranging from traditional Andalusian cortijos to contemporary designs.
