Paraíso / Barronal GARY PLAYER GOLF AND BEACHFRONT VILLA LIVING

What is Paraíso / Barronal?

El Paraíso and its beachside extension, Paraíso Barronal, form one of the most desirable residential pockets between Estepona and San Pedro de Alcántara. The area is centred around El Paraíso Golf Club, an 18-hole course designed by Gary Player in 1973, which winds through a lush valley flanked by La Concha mountain to the north and the Mediterranean to the south.

Practically, El Paraíso occupies an enviable midpoint on the coast. San Pedro de Alcántara is seven minutes east, Estepona town ten minutes west, and Puerto Banús is reachable in twelve minutes. The International School Estepona is located within the urbanisation itself.

A Course Designed by a Legend

El Paraíso Golf Club was designed by Gary Player, one of only five golfers to have achieved the career Grand Slam. The course opened in 1973 and has matured into one of the most scenic layouts on the coast.

Paraíso Barronal: The Beachside Premium

The strip of land between the N-340 and the sea, known as Paraíso Barronal, represents the most coveted real estate in the El Paraíso area. Detached villas on plots of 1,500 to 3,000 square metres sit behind private hedges with direct garden gates opening onto the sand.

El Paraíso in 2026

El Paraíso had two practical changes this year. The new pavement along the Benahavís road gives the Atalaya side a lit, continuous footpath from the A-7, and the A-7 itself is getting acoustic screens on this stretch. The Gary Player course is ranked against its neighbours in our guide to every golf course on the coast, and the beach at Paraíso Barronal is one of the seventeen in our Estepona beach guide. Our stock here is small, usually a villa or apartment at a time, on our Estepona property page, with projects on new developments in Estepona. A resale pays 7 percent transfer tax today and 6.75 percent from 2027. The neighbours, Atalaya, Cancelada, Bel-Air and Guadalmansa, have their own guides.
