What is Valle Romano?
Valle Romano sits in western Estepona, on the coastal side of the AP-7, built around Valle Romano Golf — an 18-hole course designed by the golf architect Cabell B. Robinson. The clubhouse holds the Columela Restaurant, a golf academy, a practice area and a meeting room. It's one of the newer golf developments on this stretch of coast, with the course itself roughly a decade old.
Housing here is mostly modern apartments and penthouses in low-rise blocks built around the fairways, with some semi-detached houses and villas on the edges of the development. One recent phase added 144 apartments across six low-rise buildings with one, two and three bedrooms; other completed phases follow a similar low-rise format. Recent listings across Valle Romano span roughly from the high €200,000s for apartments up to several million euros for larger villas.
The area is close to the coast — Guadalobón beach is about 3 km away — and a short drive from Estepona's old town and marina. Within Valle Romano itself is Ona Valle Romano Golf Resort, an apart-hotel complex with its own restaurants, pools, gym and padel courts, alongside the golf club's own facilities.
Valle Romano in 2026
The resort is still building. Etherna Homes I and II, 39 apartments from about 321,000 euros, is the new phase we list at Valle Romano, the cheapest new build on the western side of Estepona, with the rest of the west on our Estepona new developments page. On resale At the time of writing (October 2026) we have one villa tagged to Valle Romano, a four bedroom house at about 2.2 million, on our Estepona property page. The course is in the value group in our golf courses guide, alongside Estepona Golf and Doña Julia, and the Columela restaurant in the clubhouse is the local lunch. The beach below, Arroyo Vaquero and Guadalobón, is one of five with a lifeguard in summer 2026 and has a car park of 20 to 30 spaces, in our Estepona beaches guide. The reason the west side of town is growing is the town hall: debt cleared in 2025, property tax down 50 percent since 2012, a velodrome and sports complex under construction by the Monterroso stream with completion expected in 2027 and land being released for about 300 subsidised homes, in our post on the tax cuts and our velodrome post. The neighbours have their own guides: Guadalobón on the beach below, La Gaspara and La Resina along the hill, Estepona Golf to the west, Bahía Dorada and Buenas Noches further on, and the town in our Estepona guide.
Where is Valle Romano?
Who lives in Valle Romano?
Valle Romano attracts golf buyers and holiday-home investors more than a fixed year-round population. Several of the newer developments are sold with tourist rental licences, so short-let turnover sits alongside permanent owners — a pattern typical of golf-resort developments on this part of the coast rather than something specific to one nationality of buyer.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the restaurant at Valle Romano Golf called?
The Columela Restaurant, in the clubhouse at Valle Romano Golf.
Are new phases still being built in Valle Romano?
Valle Romano has grown in phases since the golf course opened, with several residential developments completed on the land around it. Whether new phases are under construction changes over time, so check current availability with your agent rather than assuming ongoing development.
What are the community fees like in Valle Romano?
Fees are set individually by each building's community and vary by development, so there isn't a single figure that applies across Valle Romano. Ask for the specific fee schedule on any property you're considering.
Is Valle Romano a gated resort?
No. Valle Romano is a golf course with several separate residential developments built around it, each with its own access arrangements rather than one shared perimeter — check the specific development for its security setup.
How far is the beach from Valle Romano?
Guadalobón beach is about 3 km away.
Who designed the Valle Romano golf course?
Cabell B. Robinson, an international golf course architect, designed the 18-hole course.
What is the cheapest new build at Valle Romano?
Etherna Homes I and II, 39 apartments from about 321,000 euros in our stock at the time of writing. That is among the lowest starting prices for a new apartment anywhere between Estepona and Marbella, which is why Valle Romano draws first buyers and investors with tourist licences.
Is Valle Romano a good golf course for a beginner?
Yes. Our golf guide puts it in the relaxed, good value group with Estepona Golf, Azata and Doña Julia rather than the championship group. It is an 18 hole Cabell Robinson course with sea views, an academy and a practice area, and green fees are at the lower end of the coast.
How far is Valle Romano from the beach?
About 3 kilometres to Guadalobón and Arroyo Vaquero, the long quiet beach below the resort, which has a lifeguard in summer and a small free car park. Most owners drive; the walk down is fine but the walk back up is a hill.
